A devastating explosion at an industrial explosives warehouse in Myanmar's Shan State has claimed at least 55 lives, with the death toll expected to increase. The blast has also injured many and caused significant damage to nearby homes. In the Philippines, a Senate hearing on the impeachment of President Rodrigo Duterte was disrupted after a senator was arrested on corruption charges.

The tragic aftermath of an industrial explosion in Myanmar 's Shan State has left at least 55 people dead and many more injured, with the death toll expected to rise.

The blast occurred on Sunday at a warehouse storing industrial explosives used for mining and blasting operations, controlled by the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA). Among the victims are 25 women and 30 men, including six children and teenagers. Search and rescue operations and debris clearance are ongoing, but precise data on the number of people in or near the warehouse at the time of the blast is still unavailable. A Chinese national was also injured in the explosion.

The incident has caused significant damage, with over 100 homes in Namhkam township, where the warehouse was located, affected. Meanwhile, in the Philippines, a Senate hearing on the impeachment of President Rodrigo Duterte was paralyzed after a senator was arrested on corruption charges, casting a cloud over the ongoing trial
