His action also violates the municipal system which aims to minimise corruption in local government.
The official opposition in Limpopo, the Economic Freedom Fighters has called on the Musina Municipality to reverse the salary of the Municipal Manager.According to the statement, a directive was issued by the provincial Cooperative Governance Department to the Municipality in October last year to reverse the Municipal Manager’s salary scale.EFF spokesperson Jacob Lebogo wants the issue to be investigated.
“The municipality must, without delay, reverse the salary notch as agreed with the MEC of the Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs . We, therefore, call upon the Council and COGHSTA to investigate the salary scale of all employees of the Municipality. If found to be outside the salary scale the monies must be paid back with immediate effect. The Municipal Manager’s actions are a direct violation of the prevention of combating corrupt activities.
