Francisco Morales, also known as Francisco Eme, will perform with Drummers Without Borders during the 'Music on the Movie: Border Stories' performance at The Front Arte & Cultura gallery in San Ysidro on June 10, hoping to start a conversation about the richness of life at the border

The Center is a nonprofit focused on fostering cultural awareness and understanding through performing arts traditions from around the world through programming that includes working with schools, sponsoring concerts and festivals, hosting workshops, and helping to facilitate performance opportunities for musicians.

Morales, who also goes by Francisco Eme, is originally from Mexico City. He has been living in San Diego for the past seven years. He took some time to talk about the dynamics and narratives of life at the border between San Diego and Mexico, and the role art can play in telling the whole story.

There are people who can cross the border and can go to Mexico, and that makes a difference in your life. When you can move between these two cities, it is amazingly rich. For those who can stay only on one side, it’s also very amazing.
