Murphy to deliver State of the State address today. Here’s how to watch.

Gov. Phil Murphy is scheduled to speak at 2 p.m. from the Statehouse in Trenton.

Sitting New Jersey governors deliver a State of the State speech at the start of each year. They lay out their policy goals and achievements, and typically paint the state in a rosy view. This is Murphy’s fifth such address, coming at the beginning of his sixth year as New Jersey’s 56th governor.

Republicans will hold a press conference responding to Murphy’s speech shortly after he is done speaking.Asked last week what people can expect from the address, Murphy was broad. “You’re gonna hear some things that are a mix of some of what you already know and continuing on journeys that we’ve started — like, even though it’s not a budget speech, talking about how important public education is to the state, putting your money where your mouth is,” he told NJ Advance Media.

“I think you will hear some initiatives that we’ve been baking in many, if not most, cases with legislators that are a new wrinkle. And I think you’ll hear, lastly, a mix of what is so special about this state — our values, what we stand for, how we actually govern, and the respect we have for each other.”
