The Muntinlupa City government urged people to get vaccinated and wear masks as the total active Covid-19 cases increased by 118 percent in just one week. | ManilaBulletin
Data from the City Health Office showed that as of May 8, there are 83 active Covid-19 cases in Muntinlupa, an increase of 45 cases from 38 last April 24. There were only 11 active cases in the city as of April 24.Based on the data, the number of deaths due to Covid-19 rose by two to 656 from 654 last week.
Of the 83 active Covid-19 cases in Muntinlupa, 21 were recorded in Barangay Putatan, 14 in Poblacion, 11 in Bayanan, 10 in Alabang, nine each in Tunasan and Ayala Alabang, six in Sucat, two in Cupang and one in Buli, the smallest barangay. The Department of Health reported that the total nationwide cases of Covid-19 increased by 112 percent to 9,465 from May 1 to 7. There are an additional 50 severe and critical cases, and nine verified deaths.
During the flag raising ceremony on May 8, Mayor Ruffy Biazon said despite the increase in cases, Muntinlupa is still classified as low risk. “We highly encourage you that in confined spaces, let us continue to wear masks,” he said, adding that people should get their booster shots.
