Ireland qualified Antoine Frisch rewarded for consistency with the province after Ireland chance failed to materialise
Munster's Antoine Frisch has been called up by France for their final 2024 Six Nations clash with England.
Frisch, 27, is Ireland qualified and has been consistently good for the province since his arrival ahead of the 2022 season from Bristol Bears and impressed on the Emerging Ireland tour in the same campaign. But he has not got a look in due to the strength in depth at Andy Farrell's disposal in the centre positions, with Bundee Aki, Robbie Henshaw, Garry Ringrose and Stuart McCloskey fighting it out for the two starting roles over the last number of years.Frisch had moved to Munster with the aim of playing for Ireland. He qualifies through his Irish-born grandmother."I have no idea why.
If Frisch does play for France in Lyon on Saturday then it could present Graham Rowntree with a dilemma. The URC winner's current contract isn't up until the end of the 2025 season but a cap for France would make him a non-Irish qualified player.
