Heather Humphreys, the Minister for Social Protection, has said she wants to see the rate of maternity benefit being linked to the former salary of the new mother
Social protection Minister, Heather Humphreys, has hinted that a reform of maternity benefit could be on the cards.
"It is my intention with this legislation today to get the train on the tracks by getting a pay related benefit system up and running in Ireland," she said, according to the Irish Independent. "For example, I absolutely believe we should have pay-related maternity benefits in this country. And I think that is the logical next step."
