Mum held over murder of girl, 11

BATU PAHAT: The mother of an 11-year-old has been arrested for the murder of the girl who was found dead in her house.

The 34-year-old woman reported that her daughter had hanged herself but police investigations raised doubts over her story.He said police received information about the death of the girl in Yong Peng from the public at around 4.55pm.

“The Batu Pahat police district headquarters team did not find any injuries on other parts of the victim’s body, besides wounds on the forehead and bruises on the neck,’’ Comm Kamarul said in a statement, adding that the police recorded statements from witnesses. Comm Kamarul said the body had been sent to Hospital Sultanah Nora in Batu Pahat to determine the cause of the death.

“The victim’s mother was detained as there were inconsistencies with her statement and those of witnesses,’’ he said.
