KUALA LUMPUR: Multiple roads in the Klang Valley will be temporarily closed on Feb 12 to facilitate the Gran Fondo New York bicycle race.

In a statement Friday , Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said that the road closures would be done in stages from 6.30am until 9am."The race will start in Dataran Merdeka and go through several roads within the heart of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor before ending back in Dataran Merdeka," he saidAmong the roads affected by the closures include Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Bukit Bintang and Jalan Kuching.

He advised road users to use public transportation, avoid using roads affected by the closures and to obey police instructions to ensure smooth traffic. In a text message to the media, Selangor police said that the roads affected in the state include Jalan Rawang, Jalan Batang Kali, Jalan Hulu Yam Bharu and Jalan Sg Tua.
