A new multi-level car park in Luyang, Kota Kinabalu, intended to solve decades-long parking issues, has become a nuisance and hazard due to illegal racers using it as a training ground at night. Residents complain about noise pollution and danger posed by speeding vehicles and motorcycles. Community leaders urge the Kota Kinabalu City Hall to take action and ensure the facility serves its intended purpose.
KOTA KINABALU: A multi-level carpark meant to tackle decades-long parking woes in the Foh Sang commercial area in Luyang near here is turning into a nuisance and hazard instead.
Some allege that many vehicles and motorcycles head up the carpark ramps and then speed down over and over again. She said the building should have been a dream come true for residents and traders who have been struggling with parking problems for over 10 years. “These actions have caused significant noise disturbances, particularly affecting families with young children and elderly residents,” he said when contacted on Tuesday .
