Millions of people around the world visit Mecca every year for their haj pilgrimage.

The Sunday Times of Singapore reported today that the problem of “anti-vaxxers” had spread to those going on their pilgrimage to Mecca. It said this tactic could see Malaysians contract diseases, such as meningitis, through mingling with millions of people from all over the world in Saudi Arabia or pass diseases to others there.Mujahid, who is in charge of Islamic affairs, said it was wrong to falsify documents and action would be taken against travel agencies helping to forge vaccination forms for the pilgrims.

“If these pilgrims refuse to do so, it will do more harm as they will be spreading diseases to others,” he told FMT.However, Mujahid said he was not aware of any such cases happening before this.
