PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister and Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is expected to be charged in court today under the Sedition Act over statements made during the recent Nenggiri by-election.
The Pagoh MP will be the first former prime minister to be charged under the Sedition Act in Malaysia. The matter was also announced by Bersatu information committee member Badrul Hisham Shaharin in his Facebook post yesterday.“The prosecution using the Sedition Act is a political act where the ruling regime is abusing its authority. Muhyiddin is being charged for speaking the truth,” Badrul Hisham said in his post.
In the video, Muhyiddin during a ceramah at Felda Perasu on Aug 15 seemingly questioned the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decision to appoint Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the prime minister after the 15th General Election.
