SIBU: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s proposal for political reforms, including limiting the premiership tenure to two terms and a ban on party hopping, can be seen as a step in the right direction to effectively combat corrupt political practices, says Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
The Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Minister said the move indicated Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s sincerity and commitment to bring about improvements in the local political scene."We have seen the Barisan Nasional reformation agendas, we have seen Pakatan Harapans proposals and now from Perikatan Nasional, we have one which I consider leads the rest.
"What Muhyiddin did is a testament to his leadership and seriousness in eradicating corruption,” he said, adding that he also agreed to an amendment of the law to speed up the process to allow 18-year-old citizens to vote. As such, he was in favour of the proposal that all MPs should receive the same annual allocation, regardless of where they stood politically.
