Monday may see some wind, though, and bigger, choppier waves.
It’s been an unexpectedly dreary and wet Labor Day weekend so far across Southern California, but the sun may come out in time for Monday’s activities, forecasters say.
The system’s result has been widespread, with light rain throughout the region since Friday afternoon, and more than three inches of rain in the San Gabriel Mountains. As of 1 p.m. Saturday, 24-hour rainfall totals showed 0.46 inches near Corona, 0.47 inches near Yucaipa, 0.18 inches in Ontario, 0.83 inches at the San Gabriel Dam, and 0.9 inches near Trabuco Canyon. Most other areas got under half an inch of rain, or just traces of it.
It’s been a relatively cool weekend, too, with temperatures in the mid to high 70s across Southern California. Temperatures are expected to stay in that range until Monday, then slowly rise. “By Monday, we should be dry,” Maxwell said. “It’ll be a lot cooler, and perfect for outdoor activities.”
