Robert Mueller submits special counsel's Russia probe report to Attorney General William Barr
Special counsel Robert Mueller on Friday delivered his report to Attorney General William Barr on Russia's election meddling and possible collusion with Donald Trump's presidential campaign.Mueller, appointed in May 2017, is no longer formally the special counsel, according to NBC News' Pete Williams.
Barr wrote that he intends to consult with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Mueller"to determine what other information from the report can be release to Congress and the public consistent with the law." Mueller was appointed by Rosenstein days after Trump abruptly fired former FBI Director James Comey, who had been in charge of the government's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
In a tweet, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said,"We look forward to the process taking its course."
