Muan International Airport in South Korea will remain closed for another week as investigators continue to probe the fatal crash of a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The incident, which claimed 179 lives, is the deadliest air accident in South Korean history.

South Korea 's government announced on Monday (Jan 6) that Muan International Airport will remain closed for an additional week until January 14th. This extension is due to the ongoing investigation into the fatal crash of a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 aircraft on December 29th, which resulted in 179 fatalities. A joint investigation team is intensifying its efforts to uncover the cause of the accident, the deadliest in South Korea 's aviation history.

Two Korean investigators are scheduled to depart for the United States today to analyze flight data recorders with the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board. The investigation team has already compiled a complete transcript from the cockpit voice recorder recovered from the wreckage. The transport ministry has extended its inspections of all Boeing 737-800 aircraft operated by Jeju Air and five other airlines in the country, including their maintenance records, until January 10th.
