THE Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will give free rides to seafarers on Sunday, June 25 in celebration of the Day of Filipino Seafarers.
The free ride will start at 5:00 a.m. and will last until 9 p.m.and 10 p.m. for those bound for North Avenue and Taft Avenue stations respectively.To avail of the free ride, seafarers need to present their Seafarers Identification and Record Book or Seafarers Identity Document to MRT-3 personnel stationed at the service gate.
'We, together with the DOTr , acknowledge the huge contributions of our seafarers to our economy. That's why in simple ways like this, we want to show honor and appreciation to their sacrifice', MRT-3 Officer-in-Charge Jorjette Aquino said.The Day of Filipino Seafarers is an annual celebration launched by the Marine Industry Authority as a way to give tribute to the maritime industry and its workers.
