KUALA LUMPUR: An Umno and a PAS MP have called for a ban on the sale and consumption of liquor in public places, similar to the ban on smoking at open areas.“If we compare smoking and consuming liquor, drinking is more dangerous, especially if you are driving,” he told the Dewan Rakyat.
He asked if the federal government will implement such a ban as such regulations come under the local councils at present. He said those under the influence of liquor could also pose a danger to other people. “It should be done immediately,” he said, bringing up the case of the man caught wandering naked in Kuala Lumpur after he consumed liquor to fight off his depression.Subscribe to our newsletter and get news delivered to your mailbox.
