Speed, alcohol and drugs have been ruled out as factors in the collision at El Camino Real and Grant Road.
MOUNTAIN VIEW – A 13-year-old bicyclist was killed in a collision with a transport truck Thursday morning on El Camino Real in Mountain View, police said.
The crash was reported at 8:15 a.m. at El Camino Real and Grant Road, according to the Mountain View Police Department.The driver of the truck remained at the scene and was “very cooperative” with officers, police said. Speed, alcohol and drugs were ruled out as factors in the crash. “We are devastated by this incident, and we know many in our community are also mourning and may ask what comes next as part of the investigation,” police said in a news release.
Authorities said the investigation will take time to complete and will include viewing any footage of the crash and interviewing anyone who witnessed or was involved in the crash. The city will also work with the California Department of Transportation to determine if any refinements should be considered for a project currently under design to add bicycle lanes and pedestrian improvements to El Camino Real, police said.
