Jakarta: Hiking enthusiasts will not be allowed to explore Mount Ciremai in West Java until June 5, officials have announced.
Mount Ciremai National Park Agency has announced that the hiking tracks have been closed since May 5 until June 4. Hikers can visit the mountain again from June 5.
A circular issued on April 26 states that in order to support the preservation of wildlife and plants as well as conducting hiking track maintenance, the TNGC has closed all of the trails on Ciremai. “All tracks are closed. Palutungan, Linggarjati, Apuy and Linggasana tracks are all closed,” head of TNGC Kuswandono told kompas.com.Kuswandono added that TNGC was working on a better hiking system to control the number of hikers.“We are going to improve the management and provide online booking for hikers,” he said. — The Jakarta Post/Asia News Network
