The Macedon Ranges Shire Council has closed a dual-use showgrounds sheep pavilion and netball change room after conducting an air quality assessment and hygienist report.
A Victorian council will install a temporary change room for netballers after testing the air quality of its existing facility. Netball Victoria is auditing community facilities across the state with a strategy to be released at the end of the year.
The council painted over the mould and installed fans before getting a professional in to determine if the facility at Kyneton Showgrounds was safe. The ABC understands some players have expressed concerns about the mould exposure's impact on their health. Netball Victoria has commenced a new tracking and auditing system, with a statewide audit of community facilities underway and expected to be complete by mid-2024.Regional Victorian netball clubs are running with substandard facilities, with players describing some as "putrid", "medieval", and a barrier to participation in sport for girls and women.
