Motorists have been left stranded on a major Queensland highway as heavy rain pummels the state’s central coast and Whitsundays.
Police have issued food drops to those stranded on the Bruce Highway and warned drivers they could be stuck until Thursday.
Mackay’s Pioneer River is expected to peak this morning, and areas surrounding the town could see up to 500 millimetres of rain over the next 24 to 48 hours.
