Motorcyclist killed in crash at South Bay freeway interchange

Speed is believed to have been a factor in the collision.

LOS GATOS – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash Thursday night at the Highway 17 and Highway 85 interchange, authorities said.

The collision was reported at 6:41 p.m. on the transition ramp from southbound Highway 17 to southbound Highway 85, said California Highway Patrol Officer Ross Lee. The rider, described as a man in his 60s, hit a guardrail and was ejected from his motorcycle, Lee said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.The ramp was shut down for an investigation and remained closed for unrelated roadwork late Thursday.
