Motorcyclist killed in collision with 4WD near Putatan; vehicle later set on fire

A 25-year-old man died after his motorcycle hit the rear of a four-wheel-drive vehicle along Jalan Papar-Kota Kinabalu. The driver and passenger of the 4WD were unhurt. The vehicle was later found set on fire about 1.5km from the scene. Police investigate under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

PENAMPANG: A 25-year-old local man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a four-wheel-drive vehicle along Jalan Papar–Kota Kinabalu near Kampung Meruntum, Putatan , at about 11.10pm on Tuesday, according to deputy Penampang police chief DSP Erwansyah Abdul Basir.

He said initial investigations indicated that the motorcycle had collided with the rear of the four-wheel-drive vehicle, causing the rider to be thrown into the right-most lane. Advertisement The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer from Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and his body was sent to the hospital's Forensic Department for a post-mortem.

The driver and a passenger of the four-wheel-drive vehicle were unhurt, while police also found that the vehicle, which had been left about 1.5km from the accident scene, was later set on fire by an unknown individual.
