A motocross rider has died after coming off his bike at a racing event south-east of Melbourne.
The man came off his bike after completing a jump at the Wonthaggi Motocross Track and suffered fatal head injuries as a result.
He was competing in the first round of the Penrite ProMX Championship, which is described as Australia’s premier motocross championship. Paramedics were called to the track just before 11am and attempted to revive the man - in his 20s - but were unsuccessful. Victoria Police said WorkSafe had been notified of the incident, and a coronial report would be prepared.
