A Malaysian woman shares how her mother-in-law's simple act of saving chicken drumsticks for dinner helped her heal from a childhood marked by the loss of her parents and feeling like an outsider. The woman learned that her husband had told his mother about her childhood longing for chicken drumsticks, which she never got due to her parents' absence and her living with a relative who prioritized her own children.

A Malaysian woman shared how her mother-in-law has helped her heal from a harmful pattern in her childhood by showing her true maternal love.

According to a post on the MamaClub Facebook page, the woman anonymously shared how her mother-in-law had always kept 2 chicken drumsticks for her for dinner. She wrote, “After getting married, I have always lived with my mother-in-law. Every day, she would take care of the 3 meals for the whole family. However, because I get off work late, my mother-in-law would save some food for me and they would eat first.

It turns out that the woman had lost her parents in a car accident when she was just 4 years old. She then moved into a relative’s house where she wasn’t treated like a part of the family.“At that time, every time they cooked chicken at home, my aunty would immediately share the chicken drumsticks with her 2 children. And I, as an outsider, never got a share and could only watch as they ate it,”

“Because I could never eat chicken drumsticks when I was a child, I became particularly obsessed with chicken drumsticks when I grew up. Whether it was chicken rice, fried chicken or roasted chicken, as long as I could choose, I would definitely choose the drumsticks,” she added.“It doesn’t matter if you couldn’t eat when you were a child. In our family, you can eat as many as you want!” the mother-in-law told her.

“I really feel lucky to have met such a good mother-in-law! She treats me like her own daughter. In addition to making up for the heartbreak of not being able to eat chicken drumsticks when I was a child, she also made up for the maternal love that I had lost for almost 30 years,”What do you think about this? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
