PETALING JAYA: Three-day nationwide anti-narcotics operation sees the arrest of more than 4,000 suspected drug traffickers and users, says the police.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Kamarudin Md Din, in a statement Thursday , said that the operation, dubbed Ops Tapis Khas Bil 3/23, were conducted between July 10 and 12.In total, the police arrested 4,718 people for various drug-related offences, with suspects aged between 14 and 70 years old."A hundred are foreigners, two public servants and three students.

"The operation also saw seizures of 202.57kg and 2,789.96l of various drugs, including a ganja tree. Total drugs seized are estimated to be valued at RM553,927.82," he said."In addition, action has been taken by the department to seize assets valued at RM418,160," he said. In related news, Comm Mohd Kamarudin said that previous Ops Tapis Khas conducted from January to July saw a total of 12,639 people arrested, with around RM22,158,480.20 in both liquid and solid drugs seized.
