Community has 'lost patience' with hoons on a 3km stretch of beachfront road
An horrific crash which killed two young boys in Sydney's south has prompted the government to install three speed cameras in the area to stop dangerous hoons.
Two cameras will be set up next month at Brighton-Le Sands and a third camera at Sans Souci, following an urgent review by Transport for NSW. The government hopes the devices will prevent excessive speeding and follows the tragic accident in August where two boys, aged nine and 10, died when the car they were travelling in lost control and hit a tree.
The NSW Government is setting up three fixed speed cameras on The Grand Parade in Sydney's south. Between 2018 and 2022, there have been 64 crashes on The Grand Parade where someone was injured, including 16 crashes involving seriously injury."We have seen too many preventable crashes from speeding along The Grand Parade."
So far this year, the government has carried out more than 700 hours of mobile speed camera enforcement on The Grand Parade, a 3km beachfront stretch near Botany Bay and Sydney's airport.
