Iloilo City — MORE Electric and Power Corp. expects to complete its P115-million Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system and related facilities this year to monitor and control the substations remotely and gather data for analysis that will eventually result in improved service.
MORE Power president Roel Castro said the control center, SCADA system or the “brain” of the distribution, fiber optics and the point-to-point communication to other substations comprise the P115-million facility upgrading program. MORE Power vice president for network development and operations group Bernard Bailey Del Castillo said the control center, housed in a new building along Diversion Road, was completed in February.
The distribution utility decided to build the control center for real-time operations and monitoring to balance the power system and react within seconds in instances of disturbances.
