MANILA (ANN): Starting next school year, an additional 27 local universities and colleges (LUCs) will join 76 others in offering free tertiary education under the 2017 free tuition law, the Commission on Education (CHEd) said on Sunday (Dec 29).

This came as the CHEd and Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education signed an agreement with the 27 newly CHEd-recognised LUCs to strengthen implementation of Republic Act No. 10931, or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act.

“The 27 LUCs will now add to the 76 existing LUCs providing access to free and quality higher education so that more deserving Filipino students can benefit from them.”
