As part of the “People’s Street” initiative of the Pasig City local government, Kapasigan Boulevard in Barangay Kapasigan will be closed to vehicular traffic every Sunday starting on Feb. 19.
According to the Pasig City Transport Development and Management Office , the street will also be a “no parking area.” This is to allow all spaces of the streets to be utilized by residents for their respective activities every Sunday. To compensate for the lack of green spaces in the compact city of Pasig, it is also an innovative way of transforming roads into open spaces for children to play, senior citizens to relax, and other people to exercise, wander, or socialize.
The local government has been opening and renovating various parks within the city to increase community spaces in Pasig.
