MELAKA: Melaka has recorded a 38% increase in dengue hotspots for the first six months of 2020, compared with the year before.
State health and anti-drug committee chairman Rahmad Mariman said 99 locations were identified as hotspots, compared with 72 during the same period in 2019.Rahmad said the Melaka Tengah district registered the highest number of dengue patients with 786 cases, followed by Jasin and Alor Gajah for the first six months of the year.Rahmad said Taman Maju in Jasin continues to be a dengue hotspot for the state, like previous years.
"We found breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes in abandoned houses and drainage systems at the housing estate," he said. Rahmad said 37 compounds were also issued to a factory at Taman Maju after many breeding sites were found within its premises.
