Residents of Gombak, Selayang, and Rawang in Selangor are raising concerns about the increasing proliferation of gambling machine centers in their area. There has been a sudden surge in gambling activities, with over four premises classified as active and becoming popular spots for gamblers. Popular locations include Rawang Walk's Snooker City 101 and KBT Food Supply Building in Taman Selayang Baru's Industrial Area, Batu Caves. The premises are often staffed by a cashier who handles bets and several men who act as guards, potentially monitoring the surroundings for any law enforcement operations. Additionally, every customer entering and exiting is under surveillance by CCTV cameras installed throughout the premises. Regular customers are also identified and categorized. These premises become particularly lively in the evenings and on weekends, with customers placing bets ranging from RM0.10 to hundreds of ringgit. 'Monkey' machines are particularly favored by customers due to their potential for high returns and various bonuses. Estimates suggest that these gambling operations generate daily profits of around RM20,000 to RM25,000, especially at the beginning of the month.
