PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din has been appointed chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for two years effective Wednesday (March 1).
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced the appointment in a Facebook post Tuesday , saying he was confident Mohamad Salim will address many issues in the telecommunications industry.
"I believe he will address issues such as infrastructural problems faced by 3% of rural citizens who don't have Internet coverage," he said.Mohamad Salim was MCMC's interim chairman from June 10 to Dec 20 last year before temporarily resigning. He was also appointed to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission consultation and corruption prevention panel on May 30 last year.
