Mogok Doktor Malaysia call their first strike a success, say lower patient count made it seem nothing happened

KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 — Mogok Doktor Malaysia claimed the first day of its strike yesterday was successful despite hospital managements nationwide and various media reports saying there were no changes in daily operations and business was as usual.that the patient rate was reduced by 30 per cent yesterday which made the number of personnel adequate without the presence of contract doctors.

“It seems like nothing happened because the crowd has reduced, thus the workforce is adequate to manage the situation,” the spokesman said. The spokesman said the ongoing strike is just an early warning for the Health Ministry, adding that if things do not improve for contract doctors, then the next strike will be “more devastating”.

The group is also looking forward to cooperating with any political parties which can fight for their rights, adding that they are not anti-government.they have asked doctors to take emergency or medical leave on April 3 to 5 as a sign of protest against low wages and an unfair system.
