Skagit County fire officials announced that a modified burn ban will go into effect for unincorporated Skagit County on Saturday, impacting all residential and land clearing fires.
The burn ban will start at 8 a.m. and will continue until further notice, officials said.
Permits will no longer be issued for the activities listed below and existing permits will be suspended. Enclosures must be AT LEAST 14 inches high, no wider than 3 feet, and made of cement blocks, stones, or #10 gauge steel.ALWAYS have a charged garden hose OR two 5-gallon buckets of water OR a 5-gallon Class A fire extinguisher and shovel present.Someone 16 or older must ALWAYS be present to monitor and/or extinguish the fire.
The burn ban does not apply to agricultural burning permitted through the Northwest Clean Air Agency or silvicultural burning allowed by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.
