Pro-Voice Liberal MP Julian Leeser has kicked off the first full day of campaigning for the Yes side of the Voice to Parliament, coming on the ground to engage with Sydney residents on Thursday.
marked the beginning of the official Yes23 campaignMr Leeser was seen all guns blazing at Hornsby train station in the Upper North Shore of the city, advocating for the constitutional recognition of Indigenous Australians by distributing pamphlets and"Vote Yes" signage.
“I am feeling very energised this morning by the great response I have at Hornsby for the Yes campaign,” Mr Leeser told Sky News Australia’s Pete Stefanovic. Mr Leeser famously resigned from the frontbench as shadow attorney general and shadow minister for Indigenous Australians in April, a week after Opposition Leader Peter Dutton declared the LNP Coalition declared would maintain a No stance to the constitutional amendment.
But with millions of Australian still undecided on their voting intentions, Yes23 campaigners will seek to target marginally held Liberal seats – like those of Berowra and Hornsby - and traditionally conservative seats now held by Teal Independents as a way of winning over support from voters ahead of the referendum.amid fierce debate from all political ends, everyday Australians were far more docile.
