“We believe that Mobile International Airport will provide an exponential return on investment and that centralizing the airport near the port, rail and interstates will be of great benefit to the entire region,” said Mobile County Commissioner Connie Hudson.
“I’ve been here now for five years, and I’m not originally from Mobile,” he said. “And I believe that, just gauged on the different conversations I’ve had throughout the community, that most people believe this project would never happen,” Curry said. “It’s going to happen. And it could not have happened unless there was a perfect alignment of all those involved.”

Northwest Beaches Airport in Panama City, Florida – which opened to commercial flights in 2010 -- had 794,846 last year, and Pensacola International was at 1.17 million.

He also said there is demand for direct flights to multiple Florida markets – Orlando, Tampa, and Fort Lauderdale. Nashville is also “extremely popular.”
