A campaign for Mobile County District Attorney sent out a news release this morning claiming “voter fraud” in his race after an automated phone call impersonating his campaign was circulating throughout the county.

Blackwood said said he has not “and never will authorize any robocalls.” He said the audio from the calls was copied from publicly available videos on his campaign’s Facebook page. Blackwood is blaming “someone who opposes me” for the robocalls, and that illegal calls have been occurring for weeks.“Other than a traditional media campaign and social media, our only mass effort was a single email that we sent to registered voters in Mobile County at 9 a.m. Monday, all of whom had previously opted in to receive emails,” said Scott Rye, with the Jordan campaign., wished Blackwood and Jordan the best of luck in today’s GOP primary. She is unopposed in the Democratic contest.
