MLB hires Trump-allied lobbying firm for guidance on Cuban baseball players
Major League Baseball has tapped a Trump-allied lobbying firm to find a solution for Cuban baseball players who want to play in the United States.
The move comes a month after the Trump administration nixed a deal that would have made it easier for Cuban ballplayers to play in the United States. Brian Ballard, one of Trump's top fundraisers in Florida during the 2016 presidential election, is registered as a lobbyist for the league as it pertains to "issues related to combating human trafficking,"A spokesman for the league tells CNBC that Ballard and his firm were hired "for guidance on finding a solution that ends the human trafficking of Cuban baseball players."
