MK Party allegedly occupying space in a hijacked building, City of Joburg says it's investigating
A part of the building that was previously allegedly hijacked and recently, in part, taken over by the uMkhonto we Sizwe Party.
The City of Johannesburg's Group Forensic and Investigation Services is investigating how former president Jacob Zuma's uMkhonto we Sizwe Party has allegedly occupied a"board room" space in one of city's hijacked buildings. The political newcomers seemingly took over this space at the expense of an non-governmental organisation that ran a drug rehabilitation centre for youths and other social programmes at the building in downtown Johannesburg.
And even though the national office of the MK Party denies involvement in the hijacked building, according to at least three witnesses who have observed activity there, the building is used by MK Party members.South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future. City of Joburg Invests R1 Billion Annually in Infrastructure RenewalThe City of Joburg invests about R1 billion in infrastructure renewal and expansion annually. It says it needs approximately R3 billion per year to address the issue of poor infrastructure as residents grapple with consistent water cuts. The metropolitan municipality has been facing water problems due to power outages at the Eikenhof pump station. The operations manager, Logan Munsamy, said the good news is that the systems are back on track, and water will be fully restored by Friday afternoon. The city's water system is operating at a higher-than-desired level, according to the Joburg Water official. 'It's not only the hot weather conditions, there's leakage, there's densification in these areas, some of them are growing and infrastructure is also old and needs a bit of TLC and upgrades,' said Munsamy. By reducing overall consumption and improving infrastructure, there will be more capacity in the reservoirs, providing a buffer during interruptions. Johannesburg Water's managing director, Ntshavheni Mukwevho, acknowledged the city was dealing with an issue of aging infrastructure.
