A 14-year-old girl in Malaysia went missing for several hours before returning home safely. She denied claims of being with a boyfriend and stated she spent the night with a female friend.

PDRM in Kuantan , Pahang, received a missing person’s report on Sunday (December 15). The police then launched a search effort for Nur Soleeha Sorfina Zabri, who is only 14 years old. In an official statement shared on its Facebook page, Kuantan Police Chief ACP Wan Mohd Zari Wan Busu said the report was made by Soleeha’s mother on the same day of her disappearance. The woman was shocked to find that her teenage daughter was not in her bedroom at 3 AM, and the search for her began.

The woman tried her best to find her daughter around Kuantan town but to no avail. She eventually lodged the police report around 8:49 PM. Based on the initial investigation, PDRM believed that Soleeha, who has dropped out of school, may have followed her boyfriend, whom she just met and goes by the name “Ikhwan”. In another update by Malaysian Gazette, it is reported that Soleeha has safely returned home. However, she denied the claims that she was out with any men and said that she spent the weekend night with a female friend. Soleeha also said that she was actually at home before 2 AM on the day of her “disappearance”. “I left home at 2 AM and returned at 5 AM. Then, I went out again at 7 AM without informing my parents.” After strolling around Kuantan town, Soleeha went to her stepmother’s house around midnight on Monday, fearing that her mum would be mad at her for not returning home for going out without permission. PDRM also confirmed that Soleeha had returned home to her family last night (December 16). However, Mohd Zari said the police would call the teenager in to confirm why she went missing
