A man on the eve of his 90th birthday returned a missing piece to Stonehenge after 60 years
After 60 years and a journey through New York, Illinois, California and Florida, a missing piece of Stonehenge has been returned to the ancient monument in the United Kingdom. The unexpected return comes amid a broader, ongoing movement for the return of historical artifacts—no matter how small—to their countries of origin.
An employee of the company that cut the holes, Robert Phillips, kept one of the inch-wide cores and has displayed it on his office in the decades since, but decided to return the artifact on the eve of his 90th birthday.
