A teenager from Sydney who was missing and initially believed to have been killed in Syria is reportedly alive after a video of him filmed months has emerged.
Australian officials were given a “proof of life” video according to The Australian which shows a boy believed to be Yusuf talking to the camera, identifying himself, his parents while referring to the date as September 15, 2022, just under two months after he was reported to be dead.
His mother and sister are in a secure camp in Syria and have reportedly been advised of the news that Zahab may be alive. “Yusuf was just a young boy when he was taken to Syria. We can only begin to imagine the horrors that he has suffered through since then. Yusuf Zahab was presumed dead after an Islamic State attack on the Syrian prison he was detained in.
