Former big-leaguer Wilmer Font signs minor league deal with Padres after starting the last two years in Korea
The Padres have again looked abroad for a lottery ticket, signing right-hander Wilmer Font to a minor-league deal.
Most recently, a fastball with plus carry was touching 95 mph and sitting 90-93. He also throws a breaking ball and an occasional change-up.Font last pitched in the majors for the Blue Jays in 2020, allowing 18 earned runs in 16 1/3 innings in relief. Font was ranked as high as No. 10 in the Rangers system by Baseball America before making his debut in 2012.
