Minimum wages are set at P610 for non-agricultural workers – but labor groups say this is lower than what was petitioned for.

MANILA, Philippines – Metro Manila’s wage board has approved a P40 increase in the minimum daily wage for workers in the capital region, raising the minimum wage to P610.

It increases the minimum wage from P570 to P610 for the non-agricultural sector, and P533 to P573 for the agriculture sector, service, and retail establishments employing 15 or less workers, and manufacturing establishments regularly employing less than 10 workers. “These likewise results in a comparable 7% increase in wage-related benefits covering 13th-month pay, service incentive leave, and social security benefits such as SSS , PhilHealth , and Pag-IBIG ,” the DOLE said in its statement.
