Skies will be mostly clear when the Padres host Miami for four games at Petco, starting Thursday night
The crisp onshore winds that have made San Diego a bit cooler than normal this week will fade by Thursday, allowing the region to experience mostly mild, clear weather all the way through Mother’s Day on Sunday, says the National Weather Service.
San Diego’s daytime high will hit 74 on Thursday, 72 on Friday and Saturday, and 68 on Sunday, when the onshore winds begin to pick up again. Forecasters say coastal areas could experience come-and-go fog on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. But it doesn’t appear that it will be thick enough to interrupt play when the Padres host the Miami Marlins at Petco Thursday through Sunday. The first three games will be in the evening, when the temperature will be in the 60s.
Sea surface temperatures are climbing back to normal levels, with most stations reporting readings in the 60 to 62 degree range. On April 24, the water temperature dropped to 53 at Mission Bay, the coldest reading at a San Diego beach in nearly 20 years.
