Mike Flanagan's next Stephen King movie adaptation, Life of Chuck, might (or might not) break a 7-year-old streak in the filmmaker's career.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Mike Flanagan’s next Stephen King movie adaptation, Life of Chuck, is at risk of breaking a seven-year streak in the director’s career – but he might manage to avoid breaking that tradition. Since helming Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep, Flanagan has been renowned for his King adaptations.
Flanagan has been allowed to start shooting his Life of Chuck movie adaptation during the actors’ strike this fall, thanks to an interim agreement between the studio and SAG. This means that, while many films of 2024 have had to be delayed to accommodate the strike action, Life of Chuck could be released next year. Flanagan has had a new project released every year since 2016. Unless Life of Chuck is ready to be seen by audiences in 2024, the filmmaker will break that impressive streak.
The Life Of Chuck Releasing In 2024 Would Keep Flanagan's Streak Of 1 New Project Every Year In 2016, Flanagan released three movies that he directed, edited, and co-wrote: Hush, Before I Wake, and Ouija: Origin of Evil. Since then, he’s released one project a year. He released Gerald’s Game in 2017. He released The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix in 2018; another big-screen King adaptation, Doctor Sleep, in 2019; and a second Haunting series on Netflix, The Haunting of Bly Manor, in 2020.
This was followed by three more Netflix shows over the next three years: Midnight Mass in 2021, The Midnight Club in 2022, and The Fall of the House of Usher in 2023. Flanagan’s next project, Life of Chuck, might end this tradition. If Flanagan doesn’t release Life of Chuck in 2024 and it has to be pushed back to 2025 , then he’ll break that streak.
Mike Flanagan's New Amazon Deal Needs To Maintain His TV Show & Movie Tradition After he’s done with Life of Chuck, Flanagan is switching his streaming home from Netflix to Amazon Prime. Hopefully, his new deal with Amazon will allow him to maintain the same one-a-year movie and TV tradition that he had at Netflix.
