Tuesday, 14 Jul 2020 05:55 PM MYTKUALA LUMPUR, July 14 — MIDF Research has maintained unemployment rate forecast at four per cent for the year, with unemployment to remain high over several months.

In addition, MIDF Research said the recovery in the international trade and the manufacturing sector will further support the job market, given the involvement of Malaysia in the global supply chain. During the month, MIDF Research stated that the employment fell further at -1.6 per cent year-on-year , while unemployment increased at a faster pace of 58.9 per cent y-o-y .

While many economies have started to reopen after the lockdowns, the continued rise in coronavirus cases remains a downside risk for the job markets.
