Microsoft recently announced that anyone with a Windows 11 OS will now be obliged to use the updated Outlook application, which replaces Mail and the Calendar

apps as a whole.

For now, Mail and Calendar can still be accessed, however, the operating system will be forcing users to open Outlook, instead of the soon-to-be extinct apps. The first phase of this change has already rolled out, while the final phase is expected in the third quarter of 2024.According to Windows Latest, Microsoft is gradually transitioning all flavours to a newer version.

“Support for Windows Mail, Calendar, and People is ending in 2024 so if you don’t want to use the new Outlook for Windows after trying it, you’ll need to move to a different application by the end of 2024. More information on specific end of support dates will be made available in accordance with the Modern Policy for product lifecycles,” Microsoft noted.

Microsoft has also confirmed that Outlook for commercial customers will launch on August 1 2024. However, users will not be automatically transitioned to the new app, as the classic version will remain available.
